چکیده

Yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus L.) and Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers.) are two of the most difficult weeds to control mostly due their asexual reproduction. reproduces through underground tubers rhizomes. In addition, is a problematic weed because its competitive nature C4 carbon fixation pathway metabolism. It typically grows 1.8 2.5 m tall can severely reduce yields in corn, cotton, soybeans, other crops. Two separate field studies were conducted 2020 at Delta Research Extension Center Stoneville, Mississippi evaluate effectiveness various herbicides on yellow non-crop scenario. The experiments as randomized complete block designs with 7 11 herbicide treatments for Johnsongrass, respectively. All replicated three times. plots 4-m wide 6-m long 3-m alleys between replications. consisted trifloxysulfuron, bentazon, halosulfuron, halosulfuron + thifensulfuron, glyphosate, glufosinate, paraquat. included clethodim, quizalofop, fluazifop, cyhalofop, fenoxaprop, pinoxaden, clethodim glufosinate glyphosate. Glyphosate thifensulfuron provided only 77 72% by five-weeks after application (WAA). On hand, glyphosate 99 100% 4 WAA. regrowth evaluation was assessed 3-weeks experimental area mowed. regrew every treatment except which that no-regrowth.

Evaluation of Imazosulfuron for Yellow Nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus) and Broadleaf Weed Control in Potato

Field studies were conducted in 2007 and 2008 near Nyssa, OR, and Pasco and Paterson, WA to evaluate yellow nutsedge and broadleaf weed control and potato tolerance to imazosulfuron. No injury symptoms from imazosulfuron were evident on potato at Nyssa, whereas in Washington, imazosulfuron caused some chlorosis of potato foliage ranging from 6 to 15% and , 4% at 6 and 15 d after POST applicatio...

Effects of elevated atmospheric CO2 on invasive plants: comparison of purple and yellow nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus L. and C. esculentus L.).

The rise in atmospheric CO(2) concentration coupled with its direct, often positive, effect on the growth of plants raises the question of the response of invasive plants to elevated atmospheric CO(2) levels. Response of two invasive weeds [purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus L.) and yellow nutsedge (Cyperus esculentus L.)] to CO(2) enrichment was tested. Plants were exposed to ambient (375 micro...

Cloning and characterization of ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase small subunit gene in Cyperus esculentus (yellow nutsedge).

ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (ADPGlcPPase) controls the first committed step of starch synthesis by catalyzing the biosynthesis of ADP-glucose from glucose-phosphate and ATP. It is a tetrameric protein consisting of two small and two large subunits. The small subunits have a catalytic function, while the large subunits regulate the enzyme activity. Cyperus esculentus (yellow nutsedge) is a per...

Phytochemical observation and antibacterial activity of Cyperus esculentus L.

In the present study various extracts of Cyperus esculentus L. such as acetone, 50% ethanol, chloroform and petroleum ether were evaluated for their antibacterial activity against several human pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella sp, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Citrobacter freundii, by using disc diffusion method. The act...

Population genetics structure of glyphosate-resistant Johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense L. Pers) does not support a single origin of the resistance

Single sequence repeats (SSR) developed for Sorghum bicolor were used to characterize the genetic distance of 46 different Sorghum halepense (Johnsongrass) accessions from Argentina some of which have evolved toward glyphosate resistance. Since Johnsongrass is an allotetraploid and only one subgenome is homologous to cultivated sorghum, some SSR loci amplified up to two alleles while others (pr...
